Tulip continues to nag Jesse about the "job", but he refuses. Cassidy interrupts and is shot, but manages to kill them. DeBlanc and Fiore attempt to extract what's inside Jesse: First with a song, then with a chainsaw.

At the church, Jesse takes a drink from Cassidy's flask and passes out due to its potency. Odin Quincannon and his employees tear down a home after purchasing its land. One of them, Linus, confesses to Jesse about his urges. In the present, Jesse baptizes his congregants. In 1881, a cowboy leaves his home and heads for the town "Ratwater" (later it becomes clear, that Annville was founded on its ruins), searching for medicine for his sick daughter. Three days later, Jesse awakens and decides not to leave the church, saying he is not quite done yet. The entity appears in the church and inhabits Jesse.
